Free training and leadership opportunities
We’re looking for 11-18 year-olds who want to help primary students be school council stars in their school. If you’re involved in your school council, interested in democracy or community action we want you to join us!
You will enjoy sessions on community-mapping, identifying issues, presenting ideas and voting on key priorities for the planning group and youth council to take forward. At the event you can develop your speaking and listening skills, team-work and collaboration by working with other young people. You will learn skills in project management, presenting and running meetings.
You don’t have to live or go to school in Haringey, but that’s where the events are all taking place.
You’ll organise and run a big event in January for primary students, helping them to organise active school councils. Our main goal is to give a platform for primary students to identify local priorities and projects. We will support all your activities. In May 2014 we’ll invite all the groups for a presentation to showcase the progress they have made.
4th and 11th November: Training for you on leadership, project management and presentation skills.
18th and 25th November: You will be planning the event for primary schools.
28th January: Event for primary schools where you will be a leader.
January to March: Primary schools work on their projects.
20th March 2014: Primary school celebration and showcase event (with another chance for you to be a leader).
The training and planning in November will take place at the PDC near to Turnpike Lane Tube Station (we’ll send you a map).
The sessions will run from 4.30pm until 6.30pm and we’ll provide pizza!.

Hi Rafay, it was great to meet you in Lahore. I think this training might be a bit far away for you!
